The Zonal Research Center (ZRC)
By virtue of Memorandum Order Number 8, S. 2000 and Resolution Number R-97-2000, S. 2000 of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), nine (9) Zonal Research Centers (ZRCs) were established throughout the country. These are under CHED’s Office of Policy, Planning, Research and Information - Research Department (OPPRI-RD).
The CHED ZRC's Mandate
- Constantly update and maintain a database of researchers and researches of the HEIs in the designated research zone.
- Formulate and implement a Zonal Research Program (ZRP) considering development needs of the zone requiring research inputs.
- Participate in the identification of qualified HEIs to conduct commissioned research about higher education, based on CHED priorities.
- Process, evaluate and recommend research proposals for CHED funding, monitor on going CHED-funded researches under the ZRP to ensure that the procedures, resources and timetable are observed and promote and facilitate linkaging among HEIs for research purposes.

The CHED
The Commission on Higher Education is the governing body covering both public and private higher education institutions as well as degree-granting programs in all tertiary educational institutions in the Philippines. The CHED was established in May 18, 1994 through Republic Act 7722 or the Higher Education Act of 1994.
HEIs Participate In CHED-ZRC And VPAR-Sponsored Research Proposal Development Workshop
The DLSU-Manila-based Commission on Higher Education Zonal Research Center for the National Capital Region Group 1 (CHED ZRC NCR 1), with the Office of the Vice-President for Academics and Research of DLSU-Manila (VPAR), held the first workshop in a month-long series of seminar-workshops on Research Proposal Development for faculty researchers from various higher education institutions (HEIs) in the NCR.
