Database Building for Meaningful Research Management
In the previous ZRP, much was already invested in the RMIS project. However, much also remains to be improved in the design of this database and the findings have yet to be fully analyzed for lack of an agreed upon analytical frame among the implementing ZRCs. Hence, the NCR 1 ZRC proposes the herein described project components to ensure that the RMIS is better utilized for research management and policy development purposes.
Project 1: CHED RMIS — Data Gathering and Analysis
The Research Management in Information System is a program initiated by the CHED OPPRI to develop a strong research infrastructure. The RMIS is envisioned to lead to the eventual creation a repository of all researches and researcher profiles in the different zones. The RMIS can also be translated to become a publicly accessible online database system on research granting agencies and other research concerns and initiatives.
Project 2: Action Research on Research Culture in NCR 1
Paralleling the RMIS efforts, an action research program towards the enhancement of the research cultures in the 62 HEIs) in the zone will be implemented. This will involve the formation of research teams for each of the institutions involved in the conduct of the RMIS. The teams will do micro-studies on the research cultures in their respective HEIs, leading to a broader-scoped paper on the research culture of the Zone. The key domains to be considered in the collection and analysis of data include research productivity, capacity and utilization as well as institutional characteristics that may influence the nature of research cultures in the given institutions. . The indicators for research productivity and capacity domains are those identified by the CHED-OPPRI. The indicators for research utilization and the institutional characteristics shall be identified by the project management team that shall be constituted to supervise the research activities under the action research program on Research Culture
